If you want to treat yourself...
We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mena House. Reviews were mixed as we had heard that the garden rooms (the ones that you are likely to get if you book over the internet) are nothing compared to the rooms in the old palace. While this is probably true, the room was comfortable, large and well air conditioned - exactly what you would expect from a top end hotel. The grounds of the hotel are fantastic with a very large swimming pool where you can gaze on the pyramids. The Indian restaurant at the hotel is well worth splashing out on - for the same price as a local curry house we were treated to the finest Indina cusine I had ever tasted in a delightful setting. The hotel is very much worth splashing out on if you can even if it is just to treat yourself for a night.
