My wife and I, and our niece had two rooms in Pitti Palace in Sept. 2003. After a horrendous experience with a 3-star hotel in Rome, this accomodation was a delight. Spotlessly clean, very helpful staff (particularly Andrea in the upstairs lounge) and super location. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

For the price, the Pitti Palace is a gem. The rooms are comfortable and adequately furnished, and the breakfast is terrific value, setting you up for the day. Although the reception staff can be a bit brusque, whichever language you speak to them in, they are none-the-less helpful and polite. The terrace bar/breakfast area is the real attraction though, with views over the whole city, and brilliant photos are to be had from here. The position is brilliant, being only a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio, and 5 minutes or less from the Ufizzi and Piazza della Signoria. I would definately stay here again.

The hotel is located more or less on Ponte Vecchio, which is ideal for everybody who wants to enjoy thesights of Florence. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly, so was Andrea, the chap thatdid the bar in the evenings. The rooms were clean and 70th style and could do with new decorations. The breakfast on the 6th floor was ok and the view, from the terrace would have been incredible, had we been allowed to enter it even once! However, the man in charge of the breakfast buffet did notlet us enter even though the sun was shining andthe temperature was about 25 degrees C. What surprised us even more was the fact that there were about 20 people waiting for a free tablein the breakfast room, which was jam-packed.A bit more flexibility would have helped to takethe strain off everybody. Instead the young manwas shouting at us: You dón`t have my permissionto enter the terrace, which was ridiculous, as therewere already some people having their coffee outside. This behaviour reminded me of a stay in Moscow a few years ago!
